Our Projects

On-going projects at Urban Habitat Initiatives include consulting to multifamily housing developers to coordinate energy conservation, healthy housing and green building strategies and program resources for their projects, and directing the process for project certification through LEED for Homes or Enterprise Green Communities. UHI actively seeks opportunities to include renewable energy, combined heat and power and other innovative energy strategies in clients’ projects. UHI provides technical assistance and housing and sustainability expertise to research teams exploring connections between green building and resident health and comfort. UHI provides program support to the Green Strategies Team at NeighborWorks® America, and has had a lead role in planning and producing several annual Green Leadership Forums, as well as numerous workshops and small-group events. Previously, Ms. Vermeer developed and presented several professional education courses as a faculty member of NeighborWorks® America’s NeighborWorks® Training Institute. Past projects include project coordination for the Healthy Public Housing Initiative, a multi-million dollar research project working to improve the health of children with asthma living in public housing. UHI is a Massachusetts certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE).
