Urban Habitat Initiatives Inc. is dedicated to advancing sustainability and climate resilience in multifamily and affordable housing through consulting services, education and research. Core activities include consulting to developers and owners of multifamily housing to maximize the benefits of energy conservation, healthy housing, renewable energy and sustainable design in their properties. For new construction projects, developers seeking a comprehensive “green building” approach, such as LEED Certification or the Enterprise Green Communities program, look to UHI to helping them develop their strategy, identify funding sources and coordinate the implementation process. UHI works with developers and their design teams to identify energy conservation and renewable energy opportunities and implement conservation strategies such as ENERGY STAR Homes® and to access incentives offered through federal, state and utility programs. UHI also recommends healthy housing strategies that are easy and cost-effective to implement. Urban Habitat Initiatives’ services include analyzing opportunities and benefits; establishing a green building framework for a project and maintaining those goals through design, construction and financing; and identifying technical and financial resources to achieve those goals. Urban Habitat Initiatives’ clients include for-profit and non-profit developers and property management companies.
